Hardcores vs. Casuals Round 1
Posted April 18th, 2008 by Gaston
This hot button subject has become a greater and greater point of
division with online gamers. Akin in spirit to the the "hey, he got a
bigger slice!" argument of childhood, this debate is the fight of those
who have built lives in the real world versus those who have dropped
out of high school to play video games full time. In order to hash out
this issue and get everyone's feelings out on the table, I invited two
of my very good friends to deliberate on the finer points of gaming.
Interview with a WoW GM
Posted April 4th, 2008 by Gaston
This is an article that I edited from a thread over on somethingawful.com. I condenscened the twelve page thread into one easy to swallow gel tab. Granted, the comments on the old site were really what made this post a winner, so jump over here after reading through.
Review from an IGN writer

So the big question on everyone's minds is "am I going to like the new
Barbie Adventures game?" I don't know, do you like boxes of wine,
migraine headaches, or burning while urinating? If you answered "yes"
to any of these questions, Barbie Adventures is the game for you! Lol
(laughing-out-loud), I kid because I love. I also kid because Barbie
Adventures is advertising on our website!
Building a Bridge
Posted March 14th, 2008 by Gaston
The bridge that I speak of today is the most important of all; the bridge between FPS and MMORPG. This structure was launched with a fizzle by Sony's poorly implemented Planetside. In a Moreau-ian manner of mad science, Sony haphazardly mashed these two genres with reckless aplomb. But like most mash-ups, it was stupid and once the novelty wore off we retreated back to our respective comfort zones.
Return of the Clemster
Posted March 21st, 2008 by Gaston
Hey there folks, Bill Clemmens coming to you from sunny Elwynn Forest.
As usual, I'm bringing the latest on being a murloc, a salesman, and
the recipient of random acts of violence.

I think it's time that we once again talk about the impending merger between Blizzard and Activision. Announced in December of 2007, the merger is still in deliberation with lawyers representing both sides hashing out a contract that will allow the winning company to bully the other company.
And we're back
Posted February 25th, 2008 by Gaston
Over the past year we've been formulating an enormous improvement to Notaddicted. For those who don't know, Notaddicted has a sister site called Redguides, and an inbred half-cousin called Cade.
I Hate Single Player Games
Posted March 7th, 2008 by Gaston
First off, let me say that it's great to be back. I'm not harboring any delusions that the site is currently operating at our most lofty expectations, but it's still a good place to be and it's only getting better. So let's get down to business: I hate single player games.
WoW Podcast Wrapup
Posted May 8th, 2008 by Gaston
Cat's out of the bag; there might be a Notacast someday. Frybread,
Alhija, and I sat down not too long ago and tossed around some ideas
and recorded a demo. After listening to our recording we threw it in a
toaster and burned down the house containing it. Making a Podcast is
not easy, or, making a good podcast is not easy. It takes planning,
personality, and millions of dollars. Fortunately though, not many
people out there are interested in making a good podcast. For many aspiring casters, the
development process breaks down into:
A Lesson from an Embarrassed Gamer
Posted November 15th, 2007 by Gaston
I enjoy fantasy gaming and I am not ashamed to admit it publicly. I
believe that fantasy gaming has gotten a bad rap as involving only
pathetic and desperate people who walk the line between weird and
sociopath. I have a great deal of friends who enjoy fantasy gaming on a
variety of levels and I have introduced a very diverse group of people
to World of Warcraft; all of whom absolutely love playing the game.
Getting your Girlfriend to play WoW

It is widely accepted that twenty to thirty year old males fall into one of three categories:
- Like Video Games
- Love Video games
- Need Video Games to live
Warcraft Brings Sexy Back
Posted November 17th, 2007 by Gaston
There are certain archetypes of the fantasy gaming world that are the
hallmark of the genre. One such example is the studious mage, who has
commited his life to study. Generally portrayed as a scholarly old man
with a flowing white beard, the mage is a character who has endured the
changes of gaming, and transcended each medium of fantasy gaming.
Nostalgia Online (NtO)
Posted November 27th, 2007 by Gaston
According to this site (aka, some kid making stuff up), the word nostalgia originates from a medical term used to describe "the pain a sick person feels because he wishes to return to his native land, and fears never to see it again."
